The sanctuary of the historic Phippsburg Congregational Church will resound with the voices of VoXX: Voice of Twenty on Sunday afternoon, January 26, at 3:00 p.m. Expect a serene afternoon of music that will soothe and soar the spirit, with pieces that cover a broad spectrum of time and style – from the Middle Ages to the present.
The acapella vocal ensemble’s winter concert is “Star of the Sea”, a program of sacred and secular pieces, including settings of Ave Maris Stella and Psalm 137, By the rivers of Babylon, a setting of O Shenandoah by VoXX member Charlie Grey and the premiere of Jonah’s Prayer by VoXX Music Director John Mehrmann. The program will also feature works by Dufay, Palestrina, Rossi, Bach, Grieg, Holst, Barber, and others.
Now in its second decade, VoXX has performed at Merrill Auditorium, Camden Opera House, Rockport Opera House and at many other Maine venues.
